Goodwill Community Opportunities Club North members enjoy a hikeNow that the weather has finally decided “spring has sprung,” participants at our Goodwill Community Opportunities Club (COC) North are eager to get outside and utilize the great property we have in Underwood Parkway in Wauwatosa. The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, and our garden club is in full swing, keeping our outdoor areas beautiful. Our park-like setting is ideal this time of year because we can spend more time outside, hiking on nature trails, eating lunches, and keeping our eyes open for wildlife like rabbits, deer and hawks.

On rare occasions, participants have even spotted a pair of coyotes that call the parGoodwill Community Opportunities Club North members have a lot to do at Underwood Parkway!k ‘home.’ There’s a site online that tracks the coyotes’ movements and habits for scientific study. Our participants have signed up and are newly registered “citizen scientists!”

In addition, the park is home to a three-hole Disc Golf course that’s perfect for beginners. So this year, we decided to take up this new hobby and learned how to play Disc Golf.

We are often joined by other community members that like to utilize the park’s fully-accessible playground with "roll-in" sandbox and adult-size bucket swings. (A big hit with our participants)!

COC North members love their giant backyard so much that they can’t wait to show it off to all the other Goodwill Day Programs this September when we host the annual Camp Goodwill Day Camp. Stay tuned for more information on this great event!
