Customized Work Based Learning

The Customized Work Based Learning Program teaches individuals with disabilities how to become proficient in customer service, cash handling, merchandise receiving, stocking, loading and unloading trailers, safety, sorting and palletizing.Goodwill offers customized, paid on-site training to learn the skills needed to work in a retail or warehouse environment. The Customized Work Based Learning Program teaches individuals with disabilities how to become proficient in customer service, cash handling, merchandise receiving, stocking, loading and unloading trailers, safety, sorting and palletizing.

The four week customized training program, in partnership with Walgreens and FedEx, includes the following:

  • Paid hands-on training at the worksite
  • Work and Life skills training to develop soft skills
  • Orientation and online learning modules

Benefits:

Graduates of the customized training program receive the knowledge and skills necessary to better prepare for employment as a service clerk or package handler in a retail, warehouse and customer service environment. Learning the value of teamwork and the importance of a strong work ethic helps individuals gain confidence in their abilities.

Graduates are assisted through the application and interview process for available positions within Walgreens, other retail settings or FedEx. There is no guaranteed hire but is based on recommendations and position availability.
