During the month of September the Goodwill Store & Donation Center in Waukesha displayed a different DIY craft theme each week and they enlisted the crafty COC West participants to help. They were given a list of items they could collect from the store to create their DIY projects.

DIY Projects Included:

  • Painted wine glasses to look like bats, pumpkins and snowmen
  • Painted photo frames in different sizes

The best thing about this entire project was the participants could see their creations out on the sales floor and customers could get ideas for their DIY crafts.

In addition, four participants were chosen to dress up mannequins for the Halloween display. The store manager, Dan and assistant managers had a variety of items set aside and helped throughout the process. In addition, four participants were chosen to dress up mannequins for the Halloween display. • Milan S. was thrilled to create a pirate
  • Lorraine L. designed a cowgirl outfit
  • Kris produced a 1980s-style blinged-out woman’s ensemble full of sequins
  • Another participant created a Hawaiian-themed mannequin

A few days later, the participants visited store to see their work on display. They did such a great job that they were invited back to create new displays in October!
