It's All About Community

Goodwill participants enjoy a visit to CurvesEarlier this year Goodwill participants and staff from Community Opportunities Club (COC) West took a tour of the Curves Facility in our area. All of us were able to see the exercise machines and how we can use them. Mary Zipp, the owner, has been very helpful, finding the right machines each person can utilize, considering their physical limitations. She is a very hands-on owner with all of her clientele. While one of the Curves’ staff members helps one participant, Mary is helping the other. The participants enjoyed going and are motivated to push a little harder to help get a healthier body.

Not only do we participate in community outings, we also like to give back to our community! Our COC West team is in a partnership with Interfaith of Waukesha. On a regular basis, participants create birthday cards for recipients of Interfaith Program’s services. Our Club members made 100 thank you cards for the program’s annual fundraising event. Plus they created a basket for the silent auction portion of the event. It consisted of a neck warmer, bath salts, brownies in a jar, four tie-dye napkins, tea cup candle and a tea cup bird feeder with seed. Just last month the Club members helped Interfaith by doing prep work for the annual Kids Fest by making five wallpaper sample books and 500 God’s Eye kits.

In the future we will be making 100 book marks for an event in December. We plan to find more ways to help Interfaith in the future and continue our outings into the community!
