Holiday Spirit

Posted by Joey James on Jan 22, 2019 9:00:00 AM

When the clock struck one (1:00 p.m. in the afternoon), Goodwill Day Services participants celebrated the new year in style by watching the ball drop, dancing the old year away, and welcoming in a promising 2019!Although we were all dreaming of a white Christmas, the lack of snow didn’t stop our Day Services participants at the Goodwill Center for Work and Training in Greendale (GSC) from having holiday spirit. You could feel cheer and jolly in the air as you walked through the building that included unique door displays and holiday decorations.

Our Legacy program celebrated the holiday season the only way they knew how by having an amazing party! All participants were given a new Goodwill Day Services shirt and wore them with a merry and bright smile. Once all the participants arrived and received their shirts, they made their way to the a beautifully decorated conference.

What’s a holiday party without bingo? Participants enjoyed playing the game and many lucky winners won prizes! Recreation Assistants Liz and Leann prepared a delicious meal for our participants and we cannot thank them enough for all of their time and effort. There was no better way to burn off those calories by dancing and taking pictures with Santa and his Elf.

The Clubhouse program said goodbye to 2018 and hello to 2019 with class and style, as they were dressed-to-impress. Along with their fancy attire, each participant received a mask and necklace to go with their outfit. Since everyone looked so grand, there was a giant balloon arch set up in the conference room, where participants could take photos with their peers.

When the clock struck one (1:00 p.m. in the afternoon), we celebrated the new year in style by watching the ball drop, dancing the old year away, and welcoming in a promising 2019!

I have been working for Goodwill since February 2017 and began as a Recreation Assistant at Community Opportunities Club-North. In September 2018 I became supervisor of Day Services at the Goodwill Center for Work and Training in Greendale, WI (GSC). I love every aspect of my job, especially bonding with the participants. I graduated from UW-Whitewater in December of 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human, Health and Performances and minors in Teaching Health Education and Recreation. In my spare time I enjoy going up north to my house in St. Germain or playing softball during the summer nights.
