Jessica J. is a participant at Goodwill’s Community Opportunities Club (COC) West located in Waukesha. She is very Interested in a career in the childcare field and she has been attending Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC), working hard to earn the first part of the Child Care Certification.
At the beginning of March, Jessica began to participate three days a week in activities at COC West. Encouraging program participants to flourish, I offered support for Jessica and taught her how to create daily and weekly schedules for the classes she will be conducting with the children, ages six months to 1-1/2 years old.
Jessica must create six types of classes each day: Sensory, Math, Circle Time, Language, Art and Music and Movement. To help with the creative process, Jessica conducts a class with her peers each week at COC West.
As Jessica becomes more and more comfortable, our staff is encouraging her to create additional classes to lead with her peers. Because of Jessica’s hard work and with the help of her DVR coach, she interviewed at Bumblebee Learning Academy in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and was offered a job! A big congratulations to Jessica!
