Our Goodwill Day Services program supports adults with developmental disabilities to maintain independent and active lives in their community. We operate three facility-based centers that develop and provide activities based on individual interests and needs. Our participants may choose recreational or social activities, music or arts, educational or volunteer opportunities and activities to strengthen and maintain physical health. We also offer a wide variety of community outings every month.
Just last month, our participants and staff from our Center for Work and Training facility in Greendale visited the MSOE Grohmann Museum and viewed the fantastic “Man at Work” exhibit. It is a collection of over 1,000 paintings and sculptures which represents the evolution of manual labor around the world.
We thought this would be a great place to take our participants to educate them on the history of work and to explore different types of art. This exhibit allowed our participants to open their minds and relate to the images and sculptures they viewed. They have a real love for the visual arts because they have been introduced to a wide range of art mediums through our artistic enhancement program.
It is not a coincidence that participants from the company that believes in the “Power of Work” would have such a blast at the “Man at Work” collection; quality work is very contagious!
