Goodwill and UW-Milwaukee collaborate on field placement for students

Posted by Jan Kruk on Feb 11, 2016 3:00:00 PM

Meet Brin. She is a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Social Work student who will be spending two semesters Brinwith us at our Community Opportunities Club South(COC), part of our Goodwill Day Services program. The COC supports adults who have been impacted by a physical disability or brain injury to regain the confidence and independence needed to lead more productive and active lives.

Brin had the opportunity to choose from a number of social service agencies in the area for placement and she decided to pick Goodwill and boy are we thankful!

What is really nice about this relationship is that our club members and case managers will provide Brin with hands-on, real world experience, which will help her learn case management skills and obtain her degree. Goodwill benefits because she will bring fresh, new ideas and activities for our members to enjoy, which they definitely appreciate!

Goodwill Community Opportunities ClubCOC south offers a “club-like” atmosphere where individuals can set goals and objectives for themselves. Our Goodwill team and Brin will help them reach their objectives by offering guided activities and plans. Or if they prefer they can play cards and socialize with friends and employees. It’s entirely up to them.

If you’d like to learn more about our Community Opportunities Club feel free to email me Janis.Kruk@goodwillsew.com.

Welcome aboard Brin!
