“REMEMBER THAT THE HAPPIEST PEOPLE ARE NOT THOSE GETTING MORE, BUT THOSE GIVING MORE.”
– H. JACKSON BROWN, JR.

To show their appreciation, Jessica Smith, Operations Manager, organized a surprise Christmas gift for Dan. She had the participants create a book for Dan that featured photos of our them holding their artwork. I think Dan Klawes, the Store Manager at our Goodwill Store & Donation Center in Waukesha really must be the happiest person. Why? Because he is so giving and supportive of our Community Opportunities Club (COC) West and Waukesha Adult Center. We do see each other quite often as these two services and the store and donation center are located the same building and we are so thankful to Dan and his staff.

Alyssa made a colorful flower, Brad created a big gingerbread man

Last September and October individuals from COC West created a DIY craft theme each week that was displayed in the Store & Donation Center. Store employees enjoyed working with our participants, customers just raved about  the displays, and our participants loved being part the DIY displays and learning how the store works.

Lorraine and Matt made a two-part sunset painting.

Since our participants are so special to Dan, he is always encouraging his staff to “give” to the them in any way that they can. When Dan or his staff walks through the building the participants are very happy to see them. And when we were looking for a Santa Claus this past Christmas to visit the group, Dan volunteered to help out!

Our participants were so excited to give the special gift to Dan for Christmas. So as we go through our life each day, just remember that the simple act of giving, can go a long way.
