Juneteenth is an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate our Black heritage while we continue to fight for our rights.”

For many, the perfect job means loving what you do, enjoying who you work with and still having time for your hobbies. For Steve, the perfect job also means independence and a chance to fit in. Steve found all of this, and more, at Goodwill.

Starting a new life in an unfamiliar country can be overwhelming and scary. For Fanta, adding several barriers including a lack of job history and being hard of hearing made the task of finding employment feel almost unachievable. Until she found Goodwill.

Overcoming obstacles and focusing on an individual’s future is what Goodwill is all about.

Andy Zakatuan knows what it’s like to face struggles as a child. He was born in a concentration camp in Stuttgart, Germany after World War II.

Finding the right employment in today’s complex job market can be overwhelming. For cancer-survivor Donald, that also meant navigating the search for employment with the inability to speak. His journey led him to Goodwill TalentBridge, where they became mentors in his pursuit for work.

For years, Goodwill’s Workforce Connection Center in North Riverside, Illinois has helped people in their community find jobs.

Kamal has overcome a lot in his life. During his senior year of high school, he was t-boned by a school bus and in a coma and on life support for over one year. He had a traumatic brain injury and the doctors told his parents he would never walk or talk again.

For Martell Martin, there’s no greater feeling than to help people set goals and support them in achieving them. Martell has been employed at Goodwill Industries for 10 years in various roles; he currently serves as the Production Manager – Laundry.

“I am recognizing and embracing my ability to influence and have an impact.” These are the words of Michelle Greene, Vice President – Information Technology at Masco Corporation and member of Goodwill’s Board of Directors.
