Martell Martin

For Martell Martin, there’s no greater feeling than to help people set goals and support them in achieving them. Martell has been employed at Goodwill Industries for 10 years in various roles; he currently serves as the Production Manager – Laundry.

As a goal-oriented leader, Martell looks for opportunities to develop his team. “I see challenges as a Martellway to grow and enhance,” he said. “What drives me is my desire to teach my team how to set goals – both long-term and short-term – and to help them think of creative ways to achieve those goals. That’s such a great feeling.”

Over the years, Martell has served and mentored many people. “I remember earlier in my career having an opportunity to mentor an African American woman who dreamed of becoming a retail leader. I shared everything I knew about leadership with her. After one year, she was promoted to a lead role. I was so proud of her; it was a rewarding feeling to be part of someone’s growth and development.”

In addition to his leadership role managing our laundry operations, Martell donates his time to impact lives in the community where he lives and works. Recently he participated in a donation drive that benefited a local school. “I gave 110% to this drive and to helping as many people as I could,” he said.

To celebrate Black History Month, Martell shared one of his favorite quotes by Denzel Washington, “Never be afraid to fail; if you don’t fail at something you love, you will never know how to succeed in it.”

February marks Black History Month, honoring the triumphs and struggles of prominent African thumbnail_820x360-Black-History-MonthAmericans who have made significant contributions to America and the rest of the world. To celebrate Black History Month, Goodwill is celebrating local African American leaders who are essential to our success.
