Goodwill Mission Stories

Jacqueline Moore Bowles

“I am driven to lead because I want to leave a legacy of giving.” These are the words of Jacque Moore Bowles, President & CEO of Creative Marketing Resources (CMR) and long-standing member of Goodwill’s Board of Directors.

One of Jacque’s most memorable Goodwill moments is witnessing someone who thought he had no value experience the "Power of Work" at Goodwill.

“Goodwill reaches to the core of societal ills by giving disenfranchised populations an opportunity to participate in and experience pride associated with meaningful employment,” stated Jacque.

She is committed to telling the Goodwill story to help the organization be known for transforming lives as much as it is known for its retail presence.

Q: What drives you to lead yourself, lead others and lead in the community?thumbnail_Jacque (2).jpg

A: My story is simple. I had an inspirational mother who taught me to believe in myself and never forget “from whence you came." As we progress in life, we have a responsibility to give back which fuels my desire to give of my time, talent and treasure to those in our community. As Vernon Jordan so eloquently said, “We exist temporarily through what we take, but we live forever through what we give.”

Q: What is your favorite quote from an African American leader?

A: My favorite quote is from Duke Ellington: 'Life has two rules: number 1, never quit! Number 2, always remember rule number one.'

It is important to Jacque that we carve out time to pause and celebrate the achievements of African Americans – both past and present. She explained that Black History Month is an opportunity to heighten the awareness of and reflect on the contributions of Black Americans.
