Angela Adams

Goodwill Director of Community Relations, Angela Adams and familyWhile some reserve Military Family Appreciation for the month of November, it is truly a way of life for Goodwill Director of Community Relations, Angela Adams, and her family.Angela is married to Captain Ronald J. Adams who will celebrate 30 years of military service in September 2018. Ron enlisted in the Army at age 17 immediately after graduating high school in Brooklyn, NY. He deployed to Iraq in 1989 for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and later joined the Wisconsin Army National Guard (WIANG) where he direct commissioned after 19 years as an enlisted Soldier and Non-commissioned Officer. During their 18 years of marriage, Angela has volunteered on a number of Military Family initiatives and was recognized in 2014 with the Wisconsin National Guard Partnership Award by The Adjutant General for her volunteer efforts to successfully lead a Family Readiness Group for nearly 300 Service Members and their families. The Partnership Award is the highest award a volunteer group can receive in the Wisconsin State Family Readiness Program.

Ron and Angela taught their son and three daughters the importance of Military Family Readiness through participation in summer military youth boot camps starting at age 8. Angela’s stepson, JhaVonte, is currently a member of the Texas National Guard. Ahriyan, their oldest daughter, is a freshman at Florida A&M University where she is also a member of the Florida National Guard. Both Ron and Ahriyan were recently deployed to support hurricane victims during the aftermath of Irma. Ron continues to serve in WIANG and is slowly transitioning to civilian life at Northwestern Mutual as an Assistant Director of Diversity & Inclusion while the third generation of the Adams build on their family legacy. Ron’s father represents the first generation having served in World War II. For Ron and Angela, the family legacy of service continues.

November is Military Family Appreciation Month and we asked you to submit stories about your experience with the military. Thank you to all that shared their stories and for the brave contributions and sacrifices that were made during the time that was served!
