In late 2019, we gathered to celebrate our newest graduates of the Donald Driver Mentoring Program at a completion ceremony in their honor. Retired Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Donald Driver was in attendance to give a keynote address to the mentors and mentees of the program that bears his name. “Your life is like a camera. You capture the moments. You learn from the negative. Sooner or later that camera will focus and develop the most beautiful pictures,” said Driver.

Goodwill Featured on Our Issues Milwaukee

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin is proud to support people right here in our community through programs and services that help people find hope through the Power of Work. Recently, Goodwill was invited to join Andrea Williams on an episode of Our Issues Milwaukee, a locally produced program on CW18 and My24, targeted at increasing awareness of issues facing the diverse population of Milwaukee. Williams invites guests from around the city to provide an in-depth look at community-related topics.

Partnership Helps Chicago High School Students Succeed

The Goodwill Workforce Connection Center (WCC) in Englewood, IL recently partnered with the Community Youth Development Institute (CYDI) to provide a two-day Professional Employment Skills Training class. The coursework focused on team building, resume development and interviewing skills with WCC Facilitator Melinda Crosby and WCC Employment Resource Specialist Shanell Thomas.

Goodwill’s Inspirations Choir is Featured on Milwaukee Public Television

After many years of performing at Goodwill and at local businesses and community partners, our Day Services Choir was selected to be featured on PBS’s 10thirtysix program. The PBS crew filmed the choir during a holiday-themed performance from the Summerfield United Methodist Church in Milwaukee. The site was significant because it was the location of Milwaukee’s very first Goodwill back in 1919.

Goodwill Participants Learn to Take the Bus with the Milwaukee County Transit System

Goodwill’s mission is to help individuals with disabilities or disadvantages who seek greater independence. An important step to that independence is transportation, whether it aids in getting to a job or helps in having a more fulfilling personal life. Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) realizes how valuable reliable, affordable, accessible transportation is to individuals, which is why they have a program called Freedom on Wheels. Through this program, MCTS staff go out into the community, at no charge, to teach individuals about bus transportation.
