Goodwill Community Opportunities Club members enjoy the activities and events we plan for them, but they really enjoy seeing Dan the Cartoon Man. We discovered Dan Kashian many years ago when he was doing a weekly cartoon for the Bay View Press. Back in July, our members were delighted when Dan the Cartoon Man presented a solid hour of drawing entertainment. When he performs cartooning for us he takes requests and draws what the Club members ask. Requests range from musical groups and animals, to sports figures and even famous authors. Dan also provides music and humorous commentary while he works.
After he completed several drawings, Club members increased the difficulty and complexity of their requests. Dan was up for the challenge, and he made the process more fun by building his drawings in disconnected parts all around the page. Club members were kept guessing how he was going to string everything together into an image that met their requirements, and that made sense.
Happily, Dan amazed everyone with every single drawing. He finished his session by honoring Nick’s request to do an accurate caricature of him. Upon completion, Club members requested that Dan return for more fun. He recently visited us this month and brought more smiles to our faces both on paper and in person.
You could say that Dan definitely “drew” us in!
