What We're Thankful For At Goodwill

Posted by Goodwill Staff on November 25, 2020

As the end of the year approaches, we enter into a season of reflection and gratitude. Between our amazing teams and our awesome communities, Goodwill has plenty to be grateful for. So, we asked a few of our Goodwill team leaders and employees to tell us what it is that they are thankful for this year. Here are their responses.

Cheryl

Cheryl, Vocational Support Services Manager, is thankful for:

The opportunity to raise awareness and highlight the contributions that individuals with disabilities make to our employee teams, and to support those individuals as they reach their personal and professional goals.

Theresa

Theresa, Community Employment & Connection Manager, is thankful for:

The celebration of hope for a brighter, more-fulfilling life for the individuals with whom we work with. Grateful for this time to reflect on all that has been accomplished this far, and to look ahead to all that we still strive to achieve.

Josh

Josh, Customer Service Manager, is thankful for:

Our mission. Having a brother with Down’s Syndrome, Goodwill’s mission has always been close to my heart, and it’s a huge benefit of working for Goodwill. By being able to contribute to our mission, I have the chance to not only support a cause but to tangibly help change people’s lives.

Brandon

Brandon, Day Services Supervisor, is thankful for:

The people we work with and for. Every day, I work with program participants and staff members who are interested in learning, growing, and having fun. I get to dance, make art, and help the people that matter to me achieve personal and professional goals every week.

Danielle

Danielle, Job Development Supervisor, is thankful for:

The progress we’ve made over the past few decades with our communities. We continue to spread awareness and champion inclusion, creating independence for individuals and amplifying diversity in the workforce.

Chris Talton

Chris, Vice President of Operations, is thankful for:

As someone who doesn’t have family locally – I am personally grateful for the family atmosphere that we have built here as a result of the relationships that we are building with our teams and the communities that we serve.

Julie

Julie, Merchandising and Customer Experience Director, is thankful for:

The fact that I know the work I do has a tangible effect on others lives. Our teams enable others to be successful, grow their talents, and be their best self. It’s empowering and humbling at the same time. It’s powerful to know we all have a positive impact on our communities and the people that live within them.
