Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, IL recently hosted the twelfth annual Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC) culinary competition, a highly anticipated event in the culinary world. The event, which took place over five days in June 2023, brought together nine talented teams from Navy Galleys Ashore, across the U.S. and overseas, all vying for the coveted title and an exclusive prize. The Goodwill Great Lakes team is the only civilian team that competed.

The annual Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC) culinary arts competition held at Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, concluded on July 14. This year, seven teams consisting of three members from Navy Galleys across the U.S. and overseas participated. This is the eleventh year of the CNIC competition, and the seventh year Naval Station Great Lakes was able to host the event. The Goodwill Great Lakes team is the only civilian team that competed.

Winning the Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC) Culinary Competition isn’t just about the bragging rights, though that is high on the list. The annual 4-day event hosted this July at Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, Illinois, allows Goodwill employees and culinary specialists from around the world to receive hands-on training that they can use beyond the classroom.
