As I look back on the last 20 years of my career working in a very competitive, fast-paced industry of staffing, many major components come to mind as the essential ingredients to a successful client relationship.

Here are five ways I build a long-lasting relationships with my clients and eventually develop them into great friendships.

In my many years of working in corporate America, I have seen people find themselves unengaged in their work. They have a great position with a nice paycheck, but no fulfillment at the end of the day. To them, their work seems meaningless.

However, working for Goodwill TalentBridge, a part of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin and Metropolitan Chicago, I get to see the positive impact we have firsthand on the lives of individuals we serve in the community.

In November 2010 I was recruited in to Goodwill TalentBridge. My primary focus as a Sr. Business Development Manager was to create B2B relationships within the northern Illinois community.
