Christine

With gang violence and crime in her neighborhood, Christine knows the importance of making good choices, given the harsh realities of the world around her. Having lost a brother to a brain aneurism and with a second brother estranged from the family due to alcohol, Christine relies on the support and encouragement of her mother and father to seek out better options.

Christine was already involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee as a volunteer when Goodwill and the Club partnered for a summer internship program to provide real-world work experience for local teens. Over the course of her seven-week internship, Christine had the opportunity to be part of the Goodwill Store & Donation team both as a Cashier and Donation Attendant. Goodwill was impressed with Christine’s punctuality, teamwork and communication skills, and she was offered a permanent position.

Goodwill was impressed with Christine’s punctuality, teamwork and communication skills, and she was offered a permanent position.

Since then, Christine learned money-management skills while maintaining her strong academic standing in high school and continuing to volunteer at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. Christine enjoys the flexible work schedule Goodwill provides to accommodate her busy schedule.

Christine hopes to attend college in the future for criminal justice or social work, so she can help people during their time of need. The future is bright and hopeful for Christine and she realizes her circumstances don’t have to define her future.
