Goodwill Operations are ISO 9001:2008 Certified
Goodwill Commercial Services, Work Services and Laundry, including Participant Case Management, are ISO 9001:2008 certified. In May of 2009, these divisions were audited by the ISO registrar and were recently recommended for ISO 9001:2008 re-certification for three years.
This industry standard of quality certification provides a model on which an organization may build an effective quality management system. The auditors visited Goodwill's various locations, and according to Jim Livingston, quality assurance manager for Goodwill Work Services and Laundry, were most amazed by the people with disabilities employed by Goodwill.
The scope of the designation includes participant case management, packaging, assembly, commercial laundry, reverse logistics and recycling. All four production locations are certified: North Milwaukee, South Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha.
Goodwill joins the ranks of some of the top companies in the world who are ISO certified. "While Goodwill has certainly been committed to quality prior to ISO 9001 certification, this certification is a validation of these efforts by international standards," says Livingston.
Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin provides work opportunities and skill development for people with barriers to employment. Last year, Goodwill provided services to over 22,888 men and women in our community. Most importantly, 92% of all revenue was used for participant programs and services.
